    DURATION: 2 DAYS 

    Ho Chi Minh City to the Mekong Delta: Mekong Delta is also known as Vietnams rice basket’– a fertile area spreading nearly 50,000 sq km. Here the mighty Mekong river ends by splitting itself into nine major tributaries. The Vietnamese name these nine tributaries “Nine Dragons.” Here’s our schedule that is designed to help you experience local daily activities along the Mekong.

     

       

    DAY 1: HO CHI MINH – CAN THO (L,D)

    08:00 – 08:30AM, Pick up at your hotel & start to Mekong delta tour. You have to choose 1 of 2 options below:

    * OPTION 1: MY THO – XEP CANNALS

    Transfer to My Tho. Embark on motored boat, cruising on Upper Mekong river.

    You can see 4 islets named after 4 animals that appear in Buddhist writings – Dragon, Unicorn, Phoenix and Turtle. See floating fishing houses.

    Sigh seeing to My Tho fishing port.

    Boat cruising deeper along Xep cannel, visit bee farm, wooden handmade workshop

    Riding horse along the path of Quoi Son commune. Visit a local house, listening to traditional folk music while enjoying fresh tropical fruits.

    Rowing boat.

    Back to motored boat, witness the processing of coconut candy ….

    Have lunch at restaurant with some traditional southern cuisines.

    Visit crocodile, porcupine, frog, snake farming,… Try fishing crocodile (at your own expense). Free at leisure to relax on hammock or riding bicycle around village.

    * OPTION 2: CAI BE FLOATING MARKET

    For people living in Mekong Delta, their lives are attached to rivers, water. Almost activities could be organized on river as living, working, market gathering… This tour package gives you a fantastic way of seeing how the Vietnamese people get on with their busy life by cruising among the local boats coming from all areas of the delta, full of fruit.

    For those with just a short time, this trip provides an overview of this typical Vietnam. On the way you can see the green paddy fields stretching towards the horizon (3 hour driving).

    After arrival in Cai Be, we will on board for an exploration of lush vegetation of Mekong Delta and the lively floating market buyers bargaining. Next a rowing boat rides on the maze of shady canals to arrive at a local orchard to enjoy the local tropical fruits and visit the daily activities the handicraft villages of local people. Break time for lunch at the orchard fruit garden. From here have a pleasant time riding bicycle to the villages, sightseeing or relaxing on the hammock.

    Back to the car then driving to can tho. Check in Mekong Crustic. Have dinner. Stay overnight on Mekong Crustic.

     

    DAY 2: CAN THO – HO CHI MINH (B, L)

    After breakfast, you  can choose 1 of the following options below:

    * OPTION 1: CAI RANG FLOATING MARKET – NHON LOC ISLES

    Around 07:15 AM, embark  on  a  boat  to  visit Cai Răng floating market to observe the daily life of local people who live mostly based on the river sources. We can buy some fresh tropical fruits on the local seller’s boats and engage in the conversation with them.

    Leaving the market, we will be cruising on a sampan along the canals under the green canopy of water coconuts trees. This is optional depending on the tides of the Mekong river.

    Then, you are heading to Mekong Rustic Can Tho surrounded by lush tropical orchard gardens. There you have short break, enjoy tea and fruits prepared by the host of Mekong Rustic.

    After break time, you will cycle around the peaceful Nhon Loc Isles. Stop at Cao Dai Temple in Phong Dien which is symbolizing for the local unique religion and then stop at a local farmer’s house to savour a cup of tea and learn how to make local banana cake specialties. Enjoy your self-picked tropical fruits at one of the most abundant orchards on Mekong river. You will have a Southern style Vietnamese lunch with local people here.

    After lunch time, you enjoy the banana cake and saying goodbye to the friendly host, we keep on cycling to the blacksmith workshop before returning back to your Mekong Rustic Can Tho.

    * OPTION 2: CYCLING THROUGH MEKONG RUSTIC

    We will pick up you at Mekong Rustic Can Tho to prepare for Mekong Rustic cycling trip.

    We will cycle to visit blacksmith family and learn how to make the knifes manually and have chance to  make friends with local people. It is surrounded by a luxuriant garden with many types of tropical fruit trees, flowers.

    Then, we experience by learning how to make banana cake and cycling around Nhan Ai Island to visit the  MONKEY bridge which local people use to cross the canals daily and learn how local people cross the bridges. Stop at a local farmer’s house to savour a cup of tea and coconut’s fresh water. You can try plucking the fruits at the host’s garden and talk to him to understand how local farmers take care for their gardens.

    Saying  goodbye  to  the  hospitable  host, you  will  cycle  back  to  Mekong  Rustic  Can  Tho.

    The time now should be around 12 noon. Go back to Can Tho for lunch.

    We end our sightseeing trip at downtown Can Tho. On the way back to Ho Chi Minh by bus, well have a stop at an interesting point to rest and also have photographs. Finish trip in Ho Chi Minh.
